I was wondering as to what kind different blasts that could be applied to a yoyo and the difference in looks and feel and playability that each would provide. If you have the 411 on this of course

Thanks.
Val

Response from Chris from highspeedyoyo.com.

Candy is more pitted than a regular finish but grinds well, but it has a reputation for eating strings.

Soda is a softer finish, easier on the string.

Sand blast is way rougher than Candy blast, can chew a string in minutes

Bead blast can range from as rough as candy to as soft as soda. gives a decent grind feel to it but can eat string.

Satin finish, a roughing of the surface with steel wool.

Raw

Polished.

Of course all of these blasted surfaces are typically anoidized which changes the look and feel of the surface.

Powder coating puts a thick plasticy surface on the yo-yo, colors are bright and vibrant.

Teflon is more rare but it’s found in the underdog yo-yo and the new ILUVYOYO coating is a teflon

And then there is nickle plating, which is as it sounds.

·         Yomerica Spindustries Hand Candy now available – this is from yoyoskills.com – I’m pretty sure we reported this as hard candy before, but now it seems to be called the hand candy, which I think is a much better name.  Check it out at yomericaspindustries.com

·         Henrys Crazy new German yo-yos, python, viper neo, and viper flux – from henrys-online.de – several months ago we had a henrys yo-yo on the show called the python, and this is not that, but it looks equally cool.

· Yo-Yo Review – Y Factor ~20:27

In preparing to evolve our line and move on to different things like an oversized yo-yo, we feel we need a new undersized competition level performer at a decent price ($75) that takes all of our experience and knowledge into consideration.  We want to eliminate any X factors (unknowns) so we’re focusing on what we do know (the Y factors).  The result is our new yo-yo, the Y Factor.  It is a synthesis of all of our previous work, current knowledge, and player preferences.   In keeping with features we know work well, the Y Factor is very agile due to the new profile, features a newly designed thumb grind lip, and comes with our proven bearing and response system.  The Y Factor has the grooves from the original Project.  Also, it has the round-nut axle system that has been proven out on M1s and Dingos.  The Y Factor will come standard with our new Pyramatte ™ finish in a wide variety of rich standard colors as well as special editions.
